Transmission questions
Hello everyone. I just have a few questions. I know this website is an all Cobra site, but i cant seem to find anyplace that can help. I thought this might be a good start with Tremic questions. I hope i dont tick anyone off. I just became a recent mustang owner and the transmission is shot to hell. I have a 91 5.0 lx hatchback (97k miles) with an ATI procharger and other add-ons. I'm almost 100% sure the trans is stock and i dont want to keep fixing the thing due to the amount of torque the engine pushes with the ATI. I am going to go with a new tremic(and a new engine a few miles later), but i'm not sure where to begin with an install with the Tremic, and/or what other parts are best.(clutch, shifter, driveshaft, ect.) If anyone knows where i should start or another site/books i could checkout, i would appreciate it. Thanks again.

The T5 is not the long-term gearbox for you!
Have a look at www.corral.net Their forums are probable the biggest Mustang forums on the planet. Just do a search through previous threads and you'll quickly find everything you wanted to know. Post a question about finding an install site, and you'll no doubt find a step by step website that shows you everything. I seem to see : Tremec boxes, Pro 5.0 shifters, Ram or Star clutches and SVO alum driveshafts mentioned regularly. Good luck! Craig |
