Changing polarity of electric fan motor???
I need to know how to change the polarity of my electric fan motor so I can use it as a pusher instead of a puller. The fan I have says this can be done but does not give any instructions:( :( . The only thing it states is to remove the blade and turn it over and reverse polarity of the motor. The fan only has two wires 1 is blue (hot) and the other is black (ground).
Thanks in advance, Ray:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: |
Changing Polarity
Ray-
You should be able to switch the ground wire and hot wire and your puller becomes a pusher, or vice versa. Use the black and hot and the red as ground. Good Luck. Ron |
Yes it's as simple as switching the polarity of the wiring. DC motors will reverse rotation when the polarity is swapped.
Now as they say, one must think about that fan blade or taking a fan from the front of a rad to the back or vice versa. For instance, if a puller becomes a pusher, and you want that fan to stay where it's mounted you must pull the fan blade off and flip it over. All depends on your application and mount. Tim |
