How much paint do I need for my Stripes??
As the title says, How much paint do I need for my Stripes?? Should I buy a pint, a quart, or what? I'm told a gallon of paint will do the car itself so what about the stripes??
Thanks, Earl

I bought a quart when we did my car and I have about 2/3 of it left. we used almost 1/2 gallon of color and about 3/4 gallon of clear for the whole job.

It all depends. What color are the stripes? What color is below the stripe? What brand of paint are you using? What is the reduction ratio i.e. 2-1, 3-1, 4-1? If you are going with the traditional white stripe and you are going to paint over black then you will need a little more material. If you are using a quality brand base coat such as DuPont, PPG, BASF Sikkens, Glasurit etc you will have excellent coverage. A ratio of 2-1 means 2 parts color and 1 part reducer as an example. Quality brands have much more pigment and cover quickly. Lesser brands will require more material as they do not have the pigment. So if you are going with a quality brand base coat a pint will be more than enough. Anything else I would think about a quart of material.

Nobody likes to apply decals? My Mustang came with decals on the hood, roof and trunk from the factory. My only concern is the longevity. Painted ones would seem to last a long time if you have a good clear coat over them and get the car waxed periodically.
