big block and automatic trans
How many of you guys are using an automatic transmission with a big block 460 on the street. How is your acceleration and highway speeds with say a 3:08 rear end with 28" tires.

I'm not using a slush-box, but the Shell Valley Factory car uses one behind a tweaked 460+++ ( I think it's like a 514 crate engine) They seem pretty happy with it.

I have a straight 460 with a C-6 and 3:50 rear. Awesome off the line, and plenty of top end for the highway. I could go for a lower ratio, and get lower RPM on the highway, but I think I would kill myself if my car could go any faster. I'll settle for quicker not faster.
I use a B&M megashifter as well. That's the fun part.

Check with Performance Automatics in Gaithersburg, MD. They build transmissions for just these kinds of applications. They also have better valving for light car/big engine combos. May want to drop rear down as low as 2.74 or use built AOD to keep cruise RPM down.
