Call me old fashioned, but I still like the older brass type radiator. It's so much easier to fix, modify. If a rock punctures a core, it can be soldered easily. You can remove the tanks to clean it out etc. I especially don't like the modern plastic radiators.

I agree, to a point. Even though plastics and epoxy's have come a long way, it seems that the epoxy's crack and fall apart inside the corners. Maybe due to vibration ?
I'm a retired autobody man, so I welded many rear panels etc, but years ago we stopped using the welder and going to various adheisives, with about 20 clamps per panel. Lol

The copper is ok, but their also week to vibrations, just like people using the copper overflows, their very week. The Dove and Kirkham are art and strong. Too bad their both so expensive.

The trouble with plastics is that they become brittle over time. The seal around the tank begins to weep as well. I have seen the whole top of the tank blow of due to plastic going of. JD

I hate to but, being my Cobra has been sitting for 10 years, there's fuel in the gas tank, so I need to clean it out. The only way to clean it out is to drop it. I'm happy it's plastic, not steel.

How should I clean it and what product is best to use ?

FWIW, the Lonestar takes a very small sized (width height and width) compared to most replicas. A brass/copper radiator is pretty much a non-starter due to such a small surface area. I ended going back with a Griffin because they have the thickest core currently on the market. The have dual 1 1/2" rows compared to everyone else's dual 1 1/4" rows. That radiator, plus a Ford Taurus 2 speed fan was the ONLY way I was able to keep my 482" aluminum side-oiler cool. Believe me, I tried a half dozen other combinations first.
