Have You Applied Tire Stickers To Your Tires ?

I'm doing some research and the various tire sticker company's and would appreciate your expierence with the company you choose and why ?

I want to find out before I buy and go to all the work whither their worth it.
I want the GOOD YEAR Billboard, but a radial design. ;)

What tires do you have, the height of the original lettering ?
What tool's did you use to grind/sand etc them off ?
How long it takes ? (apx....)

Application questions.

What worked for you ?
Easy, hard, pain in the @ss or fairly easy ?
How well did they stick ?
How long have they been on ?
How many miles or time do you have on them ?
Does oil, grime, exhaust etc stick on them easily or not ?
How well do they clean up ?
What did you use .
Do they tear, scrape etc, easy or not ?

After you were done, would you do anything different ?

1-10, how do you like them ?

I went with the tiregrafix stickers on Cooper Cobra tires (black wall side). Unfortunately the tire shop who put them on (I figured it'd be easier to install them on the tires before they were mounted) really screwed them up! They are way "out of center" and not 180 deg. apart (large gap between letters on one side, short gap on other) . I tried to use heat to remove them...lost cause. I don't see them coming off any time soon. I haven't put many miles on the tires yet, but I'd say despite the screw up, they seem to be pretty good and the two that are somewhat centered look great.

Well that sucks.

Did they offer anything for the screwup ?

Nope. I've known the guy for years and he always did good work, I didn't expect a shoddy job. I was at two cruise-ins this weekend and only one guy noticed the "screw-up," so I guess it isn't that bad. I did get a number of complements on my Cobra though, so I guess that can be taken as a consolation.

Tredwear

I used Tredwear lettering on AVON tires.
Looks the part as for longevity...... don"t know yet!

BJ, they look great !

Are they the 2.5" from them ?
Give me the rundown on your application with my questions above.

tirestickers

I got some decals from tirestickers.com and I love them! They are pricier but they were much better quality and durable than my previous set from tredware

Awesome guys.

Are there already made billboards from Tire Stickers like Tred Wear?
Whst size letters did you buy ?

Please take the time to answer the questions above, not only for me, but others as well.

I have tirestickers on my car and have also installed them on customer cars. Very happy with the results, absolutely no issues as long as they are installed correctly.
Answer to your questions;
1- Mastercraft tires
2- Sanded off the lettering with a medium scotchbrite pad mounted on a rotary
angle grinder. Random orbit sander works also but much slower.
3- 5 min per tire
4- Clean surface very well, get rid of all traces of silicone tire dressing. I
definitely recommend sanding the original lettering off the tire to give a
smooth surface to apply tire stickers, plus it looks better. Do not use too
much glue, it will ooze out along the sides and will be difficult to remove.
However, you must use enough glue to make sure the corners do not peel. I
use small dots of glue and make sure each corner gets a dot. The glue they
give you is superglue type gel.
5- I found it fairly easy, if you are clumsy, sloppy, absent minded person, then
maybe not for you.
6- Stick very well, I tried removing some after a customer changed his mind,
had to be sanded off, could not peel them up.
7- Year or more
8- 1000 miles
9- They get dirty like any other white lettered tires, nothing different as
tirestickers are made of rubber also.
10- 409, Greased Lightning, works well to clean.
11- Would not do anything different
12- I rate them a 10, and I am not easy to please.
