Anti sway bar??
I have a Lone Star Cobra with tubular upper & lower control arms and would like to know if anyone has installed a front sway bar on a LS? What size and type, where does it mount, ect.????????? DO I NEED ONE?????? My car will be a street car, buttttttttttt maybe a lap around a fast track would be fun!! And then there are several corners and curves before I get to my house!:D :D :D :D

Yes, you do need one, and ideally, you should put one on the front and back. The sway bar(s) keeps your car from leaning from side to side when cornering, and makes it track better.
Lone Star should have one(s) specific for your kit, or be able to recommend one(s) if it uses an OEM (stock Mustang) front and rear sway bar. |

Did you ever get the sway bar question worked out? I also have a LS and am looking into the same question. I talked to LS today and they basically said they would not put one one! They do make one for the rear. They weren't much help. I am hoping that someone has figured out which OEM bars will fit. Steve |

You do need them if you want your car to handle like a sports car and not lean excessively in hard turns.
Go to FFR forum search , they have a lot of good tech. discussions this subject. Easy to do your self; get a Howe , speedway etc; suppliers that supply the stock car guys; can get all sort of bars with adustable mounts etc; relatively cheap probably about $100 an end. Another potential source would be the Street Rod shops that sell a lot of Mustang II suspension components. Heidts, etc. They might have, or be able to recommend a front bar. 1" front, 3/4" - 7/8" rear sounds about right. If the LS uses stock late Mustang rear suspension components, than a stock or aftermarket Mustang rear bar would also fit.
Really wierd. The LS is very similar to the CR. Why they would recommend not putting one in. I just broke one of the factory bolts holding the sway bar to the control arm, eliminating roll control from the bar. Noticable increase in body roll, and speed at which car can negotiate a corner. It does work, and not having one can hurt your handling. Replacing bolts with grade 8. |
I keep hearing this, but......
I believe it to be hokum. You NEED a front AND rear sway bar for the best handling in a cobra. (In fact, most cars)
Maybe the guys in question have never driven a porsche or other performance car with front/rear bars? Or maybe they only do 1/4 mile straight stuff? You need a large front bar, slightly smaller rear bar, period ! |

Remenber, Adding or stiffening a front sway bar will make the car understeer (tight), while adding or stiffening a rear sway bar will make the car oversteer (loose). Be very careful moving toward an oversteer (loose) condition. Bob |
