can heater hose be deleted?

Motor is a 351W. Right now heater is not hooked up and a short heater hose runs from the water pump to intake manifold - UGLY. Can this be deleted without adverse affects to the water system / engine? If it can be deleted, how does one cap the water pump outlet. Thanks for responding.

Heater Hose

If you don't plan on using your heater you can replace your ugly hose with any 3/8" or 1/2" pipe plug for cheap. But if you don't like ugly go pick up a couple of Aeroquip "AN 6 or AN 8" aluminium plugs and wrap them w/ teflon tape. They come in an anodized blue, red, and silver. probabaly about $6-$8 for both.

It is my understanding that you can plug both ports. My 460 has the water temp sensor in the heater port on the manifold instead of in the water neck, and my water pump port is plugged with a pretty blue anodized hex plug.
