Smiths electronic speedo trouble shoot

I got a set of smith gauges from Nissonger. I have the electronic Speedometer with the electronic odometer. It has a momentary button to reset the miles (trip odometer) and the button also is supposed to get you into calibration mode. This is a new install. The directions say while turning on the key press and hold the button and the odometer will begin to flash meaning you are in calibration mode. Well the button does nothing. I put an ohm meter across the momentary button to test the button it self and it is working... I called the guy at nissonger and he said make sure it is wired to the transmission... I was thinking to my self it should not make any difference if it is wired to the transmission or not, but OK I said I would wire it up the the electronic sender on the Tremic TKO (one ground wire and one pulse wire) sure enough it still does not work... Does any one here have any experience with these electronic speedometers?

Mike, didn't you have a problem with an Smiths electronic oil pressure gauges as well? It does sound like it's a grounding problem.

Please note....I'm not bagging Smiths, as all my gauges are Smiths gauges (mechanical), and an electronic Smiths tacho. I wouldn't use anything else.... although I do also have a mechanical SW fuel pressure gauge.

Good luck with the fault finding.

Cheers,
Glen

no, the problem with the oil pressure gauge was he sent me the wrong sender, then blamed me for the mistake... My issues with nissonger will be a separate post after I resolve my issues...

So you know that before you turn on the ignition, you must press the button, then whilst still holding the button pressed, turn the ignition key on, not running ,but dash lights on......ikeep it pressed until the display changes....
