anodizing aluminum (valve covers & air filter)

I have a pair of aluminum "Cobra 460" valve covers and an aluminum oval air cleaner cover on my car. The valve covers are natural finish and the air filter has a black background with the rim and letters in natural finish. They don't match and the all look like $h!t.

I was wondering if any of you knew if it was possible to get them anodized? I was thinking of getting them anodized blue (like the blue in all the Russel/Aeroquip fittings) and then polishing off the fins and letters so the natural aluminum color would show, making them two tone. Get it?

If this is possible, anyone know someone that does anodizing and/or metal polishing?

Frank;
Cast aluminum tends to look rather marginal when anodized, especially if it's been exposed to oil for very long. A better way (at least that's what I did) is to have them powder coated, and sand off the top of the fins (lightly) with a belt sander. Came out pretty neat.

anodizing vs. powder coating

Whaler,

-great web page!

Bigmike,

-any chance of posting some pictures? What can I use to try and polish up my valve covers and remove the paint on my air cleaner cover?

Thanks!
