Oil pan fitment and intake clearance
 
I just purchased Contemporary 3098 from an 80 year-old gentleman who had the car since 1990. Currently has 454 Chevy and GM four-speed installed but converting to Ford FE with toploader. Want to purchase high-capacity oil pan and need to know what will fit properly. Also, whether medium-riser with two 4bbl will clear hood or do I need low-riser with those carbs or small round air filters with MR rather than long oval filter housing. Many thanks for any help from members who have already been through this or have components installed that are working well.

i have a chevy aluminum 350 based engine in my VSE. I don't know about your situation but my small block would not fit over a single 4bbl. I suspect the big block is taller than the small block. So I doubt either will fit without a scoop or blister to cover them. I have a dan olsen racing wet sump pan which I believe probably is more compact than a factory pan.

Try Armando's. He custom built a road racing pan for my 460 BBF for his 'off the shelf' price. Kickouts give you high capacity without needing too much depth. Armando supposedly worked for Aviaid before striking out on his own. Aviaid makes good pans as well.
