Taking the headers off is probably the best idea and will certainly make wrapping then much easier.

Hey Carl
Took off the header. Will get it welded then hit it with ceramic header paint.

Chasing a water leak now on front near intake manifold. Need to get to store and rent pressure tester so I can be sure.

Bruce, if its just a minor coolant leak, I'd dump in a tube of AlumaSeal. I've been using it for literally decades with good results. It won't clog the cooling system, is a water pump lubricant and an anti rust. If it doesn't do the trick, you'll be out $5. It will not stop water pump shaft seal leakage or hose issues but is pretty wonderful on little gasket leaks and radiators. My 2¢ worth.
