Trick Flow EFI Intake

Does anyone have a Trick Flow EFI Intake Manifold? I am trying to see if it would fit under the hood of my CR Cobra and a few measurements would help. Trick Flow stated the height is 10.2 inches. I also need to know the depth from the front to the back and the width from driver side to passenger side.

A dimension from the face for the throttle body to the centerline of the motor would also help.

Any help is appreciated.

Fred;
I looked at this manifold Sunday down at Summit in Akron. It appeared to be mounted on their "R" heads as part of a display. I, too, would like to hear from someone who has any experience with this setup, especially on a 351W. I'll be building an engine up from parade rest and would like to try it with EFI, but I don't know where to go for the plumbing and electronics. Any help would be appreciated.

Fred, I may not be of much help, but I just happen to have a new Trick Flow in my garage on a 5.0 in preparation for a new build. I took a picture and I will send it to you. I measured the height and it is approximately 10.5 inches above the block measured at the serial number plate. The intake is 16.5 inches wide. If I can help further just e mail me and I will try tomorrow for better info. Anxious to try it out for real. Probably, December as the FFR kit is not ordered yet. Frank

I dont know if i can help, but my son and I just rebuilt his 5.0 fox body Mustang and we had some hood clearance probs that had us shim the hood about a half inch until we get a bigger scooped hood. I geuss about 2 inches difference from stock trim on that car.

Frank,
Thanks for the measurement. You say it is 16" wide. I assume this is front to back of the engine. How far is it from the face where the EGR or Throttle Body is mounted to the opposite side and about how far is it to the center of the lower intake to the face where the EGR or Throttle body is mounted?

Bill,
I converted the cobra from carb to EFI. A good schematic, several trips to the salvage yard and patience is what it took me.

Fred, l measured the engine intake for you in greater detail. Hope this helps more. First assume the engine is facing you with the water pump. To your right is the large rounded part of the upper intake. It is 11 inches right of the exact middle of the lower intake and 10.5 inches high from the serial number plate. To the left where the EGR is mounted it is 5 inches from the exact middle of the lower intake. The upper intake is 14 inches from front to rear and 16 inches right to left. The top of the upper intake starts 3.5 inches from the rear of the block and is centered at 10.5 inches from the rear of the block. The front of the upper intake is 7 inches from the middle of the intake looking at it from the EGR and 17.5 inches from the rear of the block. I tried to send a picture but not sure if it worked. If you need pictures you can email me at Wilsonf@aol.com and I will send them directly. I could also use some advice regarding emisssions and what I need to complete the electronics on this engine if you have any. Thanks Frank

I believe Wayne Presley used a Trick Flow EFI manifold on his FFR. 351. Can't say about a CR.

Frank,
Thank you for all the dimensions. I will be out in the garage tonight measuring to see if I can make this work.

Regarding the electronics and emmissions, my neighbor is building an FFR kit and it is almost plug and go with the electrics and mustang harness. I converted from carb to EFI and am using a 94 -95 intake manifold because it fit under the hood that is controlled by the 89-93 A9L computer. I had to make a harness so everything works. It is not that complex. Once you have your kit and begin the wiring, me and all others with EFI will get you through it. If you have a specific question let me know.
Good luck
Fred

I'm using the TFS 351W intake on my FFR, it didn't quite fit. I ended up milling off .5" from the bottom of the upper intake (where the upper and lower meet), now it fits fine.
