Header advice, please....
Here's what I got: 1-3/4" steel primaries, into slip-fit steel adapters, then inserting into 2" stainless collectors and sidepipes.
Q: how to fit up everything? I believe I'll weld the adapters onto the primaries, but then what? I don't think welding mild steel to stainless is a good idea. Options: 1. Using header wrap and clamps like Roscoe did. 2. (Here's where I'm open to suggestions)..... Thanks again you guys. |
The best way to hold these together is to use a welded on tab on two opposing tubes and two opposing collector tubes with a 1/4 inch bolt fastening them together. Use a exhaust sealer on the inside of the sidepipes to sel them up. Use sparingly as not much is needed. A tig welder will do a much nicer looking job. P.S. will hold in too much heat and burn the carbon out of the metal cand cause the part to fail.

Think twice about header wrap. I've seen headers rust out pretty quick because of trapped condensation when the headers cool. Good Luck.....Jim:JEKYLHYDE
