Richmond T10 fitting
Will a T10 gearbox fit on a Ford toploader SBF bellhousing?
Would a T10 handle 500 hp/ lbs+ torque in a lightweight car like a cobra. Thanks |
Asked that same question when trans shopping. Was advised that the Richmond super T-10 would only fit GM engines. Sounded like BS to me but wanted a 5 speed anyway. With an astute, and inventive group like this, someone will figure out how to do it. But from a cost standpoint, Ford toploaders seem to be plentyful, reasonably priced, bolt right up, and take any kind of torque output from virtually any engine.
But that 5th gear sure is nice for highway cruising. |
Cobra Dude,
I believe you are out of luck on the T-10 fitting that bellhousing. However, Lakewood brought out not long ago a bellhousing for the Richmond T-10 to a Ford small block. Remember though, the Richmond uses a Chevy input shaft. I am using this setup, with a Center Force billet flywheel and a Duel Force clutch with Chevy spline disc. This is the setup Center Force recommended. I will be leaving tomorrow for a week but if you are interested in the numbers I will get them for you upon my return. Bill Kozlow |
HI BILL
ANY EXTRA INFORMATION YOU HAVE WOULD BE OF INTEREST TO ME. THANKS |
If I am not mistaken, the Ford input is about 5/8 inch longer than a Chev transmission. Most Tremacs (aftermarket) comes set up with a Chev input. You need to order a spacer when using it with a Ford motor/bellhousing.

Ford engine to T10 box
cobra_dude,
I run a T10 on my 351 SB. It has a Lakewood bellhousing, Hays pressure plate and Chev clutch plate with Tilton hydrolic throwout bearing. I have had no problems with this setup. Bryan Wilson |
Cobra Dude,
The Lakewood part number for the correct bellhousing is 15205. Bill K |
