pro flow air cleaner

okay Cobra Ed,I went and bought the proflow air cleaner and ran it for a couple hundred miles and it did like everyone said.it started to deteriorate and drip into the carb. I went to find the dehumidifier filter and no luck,,not kmart, not walmart not my local hardware store....What do they look like are they black foam like i am using now??Anyone else ever had to fix this problem??with the edelbrock performer rpm intake i don't have any room for a 2inch our larger filter unless i go to a drop down 14inch unit but it hits my distributor.help!!!
thanks john b

I have the Pro Flow and run it no longer with the stock foam element but with a much better flowing foam element. I have not had either one show signs of deteriorating or melting in 2 years 4000 miles. I recently purchased the de-humidifier filter element at Home Depot and will install before the summer season. You do not want to backfire thru the carb with the Pro Flo for obvious reasons. But melting under normal driving is extraordinary .
I mounted my Pro Flo on a Moroso Air Pan from Jegs then
trimmed the foam on the pan to seal around the hood scoop.

Sears sells them and WalMart also. The Sears unit must be cut in half and glued side to side. The overall Proflo filter is great, but the foam element is junk. Go to your local Sears store.
