Underslung pipes-minimum size?

I'm putting a 302 windsor in my cobra, very mildly tuned and using Hedman headers that collect into a 2 1/2" inch pipe. Would it cause me massive problems if I stepped this down to 1 3/4" pipe under the car, bearing in mind I'm not going for extreme power? Thanks

Simon,

We manage to fit 2" pipes on our car. I suspect that the muffler design will have more effect on backpressure than the tailpipe diameter, given a pretty straight shot to the back of the car.

The ozzies make those motors with small ports. They make good torque and not bad power that way. That exhaust size will work fine for ya. As Bob said don't restrict the muffllers too much. Are you putting the cans under the seats?
Cheers Nick
