whats the easiest identification for the early cast gt-40 head for the 351w?

The sets I've had all had a "GT" cast into the head under the front sparkplug hole, and they have 3 vertical bars cast into the front of the head. The "P" head has a "P" instead of the "GT".

Which one is more efficient, the GT or P, and are they both for the same application.
