McCleod Throw out question

At an intersection clutch depressed all the way toploader in first.
clutch seems to leak down and feels like it's starting to engage.
Bled the air. Clutch fluid level staying the same. Have to depress the clutch fully twice to get reverse. First gear I have to go through second from a stop. Any ideas...... I have been searching for the correct travel distance with a 3/4 master for the rod. I guess I'm looking for an answer on where to set the pedal stop, just how far should the clutch rod enter the master.. My clutch pedal seems to have a whole lot of travel.. Does any of this make sense ?

Silly stuff first.Poke yer grape underneath and check for wetness around the bearing body.I had a "bad"(warped) body that would not seal.
Next would be that the bleed line is actually connected on TOP of the bearing and not the bottom.

Clutch(as well as brake)masters can by-pass internally. With aboslutely no outward appearances of anything wrong.

Any time you have to "pump" the clutch your either out of adjustment or, more likely, you've got a bypass type leak on either the master or slave cylinders.

Previous writer was correct, IMO.

My first post....Denny, if you do pull the tranny to inspect the bearing, remove the banjo fittings, and install 90 degree elbows to the bearing, then put a standard female fitting on the hose and connect it to the bearing. I "had"one on my toploader and the banjos were a nightmare. As far as pedal travel goes, your is that long probably because of a problem with your bearing, or you have air hiding in your system.
