Superformance Repairs

Has anybody had to replace a master cylinder on their Superformance. If so how was the job. Where did you get replacement parts ?

Just call the SPF dealer. They stock an amzing amount of parts. If you can't wait on it to ship, ask them for the cross ref on it and you can pick one up at your local auto supply.
I haven't had mine off, but keep in mind that there is a removeable panel in the fender well right in front of it if you need it. I've had the panel off. Takes you right there.
Is your pedal sinking at a stop light?

I'll take the question one step further:Has anyone put a manual master cylinder on their Superformance?

It is not to difficult to replace the brake cylinder. Remove the front left tire and in the whell well there is an access plate, which can be removed. The access plate is bolted to the body with 4 bolts. The rest becomes easy with taking your time. Just as removing and installing sparkplugs on a SPF with a BB.
Enjoy:cool:

I have a Classic Roadster, and I need to replace the master cylinder. It won't clear the mount bolts when I break it at the vacuum unit. There is no access panel in the wheel well. Do I have to put one in, or is there a trick to getting it out? I am going to try to unbolt the vac. unit from the firewall next, to see if I can tilt it up enough to clear, but that is a pain on a completely assembled car.
Thanks,
BigJohn

master cyclinder, and brake booster

bigjohn

been there done that. i have a 2001 CR with power brakes, the master cyclinder is large but it came out ok, you need to unhook the brake lines, and pull up and forward, it will come off, wiggle factor. now for the booster you will need to drop off the side pipe at the header to clear it and drop it out the bottom, tight but will fit, you can also as Don Scott over at the CR forum it is listed in the main area . was about 30-1hr job going slow not to hurt paint. let me know if i can help further

fordracer,

If I remember correctly, the SPF master cyl is a mercedes unit. Probubly better to get it from your local SPF dealer.
