Oil pressure sending unit problems

We finally got our fuel leak problems solved and we were going to fire the car up but we had a problem with the oil pressuge gauge. When I spun the oil pump with my drill ( in reverse ) I noticed that no oil pressure was indicated on the gauge. The accusump charged up fine and the oil pressure fuel cut off switch functhion as expected. We test the sending unit wire by putting a 1.5 volt battery on it and sure enough we got a reading on the OP gauge. The gauge and sending unit are Stewart Warner.
Any one have any suggestions on what I should do next?

Thanks for your help,
Roger

You might try disconnecting the sender from any other wiring then place an ohm meter between the sender and ground. Look for a change in resistance when you spin the oil pump up.

Roger,
Sounds like a bad sender, but check out this old link for more info than you'll probably need....

We found the problem. The unit was not grounded properly.
Thanks for the help.
Roger
