HELP....Smith Gauges

HELP!! I am going crazy. I have the Smith gauge cobra instrument package. One of the pick-ups is the oil temp. I am going nuts trying to find out what the thread size of the adapter they send with the pick-up is. I understand that they are suppose to thread into the oil pan. I have the Aviaid 7.5 qt pan. I do not think it has a port for this pick-up? Anyone know? Where else can I install it? Is there another adapter I need?? One side of the adapter measures/looks like a compression fitting (goes on the pick-up side). The other end of the adapter measures like a 5/8" x 18 thread?? Many thanks.
Shaun

Typically, Smiths senders come with an adapter for 3/8" or 1/2" female pipe thread. Your pan should have the same thing. If not, you'll either have to weld a pipe-thread fitting in the pan or find somewhere else to put it. If a tapered-thread adapter (pipe thread) didn't come with your gages, I suggest you contact whoever sold you the gages.

Thanks! I talked to Aviaid and they said for the Mustang Cobra pan (that filts the 427) the newer pans have a 1/2" NPT on the driver side of pan "ledge". Went home last night and, yep, there it was! I still have to have a compression to 1/2" NPT adaptor. No problem there.

Thanks for the input

Shaun
