Using Monel wire for spinners

Have any of you used Monel wire to secure spinners on your wheels rather than s/s wire?

I used Monel to secure anchor thimble screws. It is virtually non-corroding, stronger than s/s wire of the same size and does not react with other metals. It is used in the marine and aviation industries for securings various parts.

If you have used it would you recommend it?
Thanks

safety wire

Stainless wire is the standard and all is good. This other wire you speak of, is stronger, less reactive, and made for the same purpose but in marine applications? It should be fine; if tensile strength, malleability, and all are suitable of course. I still haven't used up the last can of stainless safety wire I bought yet. Do yourself a favor and buy safety wire twisting pliers. Even the ones sold by Harbor freight for $15 work fine for wheel spinners. Once you start with the safety wire, everything is a candidate: header bolts, brake caliper bolts, you get the picture. If you need to drill bolt heads, get cobalt drill bits.

Fix-it
Got the pliers--handy little tool:)
Yes the Monel is aprox.048 in dia. Spent several years cruising, and have an anchor laying at the bottom of a bay in Mexico due to the s/s wire failing--long story--switched to Monel and never had a problem. I know there isn't much problem with reaction on wheels--but I do know that Monel is also used in some applications in the aviation industry as well as marine

Unless I hear different I will probably use Monel on my wheels spinners--I have about 50' left on a roll . It is more expensive than s/s

Sounds like good stuff. I'll have to buy some when the stainless runs out. I should spend more time at the marina to learn these things.

I believe Monel is a copper nickel alloy.
