Pinion Mounted E-Brake

What is the verdict on pinion mounted E-Brake Assys?? Have a Ford 9" in my E-M. When I look at all those cables and brackets I really think a pinion mounted E-brake is a good idea (if they work) and if so is the cable unit or hydraulic unit better. Running 5-link suspension. Do I have room? Trans is C6 so I am going to use (Park) most of the time. Saw units at Total Perf. Inc. Any opinions????

I've seen a couple of pinion mounted brakes, but they were aimed at the Hot Rod showcar guys. As a result, they were hugely expen$ive. How much do Total Perf charge?

One thing about using Park to hold the car..... I can't comment specifically on the C6, but the last Powerglide I looked at was an eye opener. The locking detent that holds all that weight and load was made of..... PLASTIC!!!!! I'll never leave my powerglide equipped car on any size slope without the E-Brake on.

More random thoughts - for not much money, I'm fitting Superkart hydraulic calipers to my rear rotors. I have a 125cc shifter kart in the garage, and the billet calipers would look great mounted either on the pinion or the rear discs. They are easily spaced apart for any rotor thickness.

I decided against it and removed it after initial installation. I did keep part of the setup and will mount the caliper onto the rear bracket and rotor.

I had a '77 Toyota Landcruiser with a driveshaft mounted ebrake. It was mounted at the transfer case vs the pinion. It was simple, clean, easy to adjust, and it worked fine.

Johnex EQ cars come with one as standard equipment. They have seemed to work fine.
