distributer question

I have ran my 351w a few times now, and after fixing a couple little oil leaks, i discover a new one. I am getting oil coming up from the disributer shaft. This is just an oem rebuilt distributer, I looked at the o-ring on the shaft and it looks good. What else can i look at?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is the base gasket missing?

The O-ring should seal this, but if it isn't, get or make a gasket for the distributor base. You might try some wheel bearing grease (non-moly) as a sealant also.

Just get the base gasket. Mark where the dist cap is pointing, mark the base of the dist housing and where it enters the block and you should be able to pull out and reinsert your dist. without altering your timing too severely to get it started. Check with a timing light afterwards of course. Oh yeah, it could also be the front end seal of the intake leaking. Or the timing chain cover could be sweating it out at that junction.
