Registering in Massachusetts

I'm performing the upfront legwork prior to purchasing a kit. I'm leaning toward B&B, but need to know what is required to eventually register the car in Massachusetts. This will not be a doner car. I am also considering a crate 460, and would like to know of any additions/modifications that need to happen to comply with Massachusetts emissions.

Any help is appreciated.

Do what the man says, 1 on 1. It's a touchy subject, and varies from State to State. Generally, the year of the vehicle being registered is based on the year of the engine used in its construction as a specially constructed vehicle. Kit manufacturers ae also getting savvy to this in their Manufacturers Certificate of Origin (MSO) stating the car is a reproduction of a '66 Ford Cobra convertible.

From the experience I had in Connecticut, would suggest you consider obtaining all the Massachusetts DMV regulations & safety/inspection policies prior to making any purchases. As an example, my Cobra was legally registered as a 1966 with a legal title and verified VIN in another state, Conn required the Cobra to be registered as a Composite using the current year, their term for a kit car. Had to have Bills of Sale for the engine and running gear to document the parts were not stolen and the DMV inspector mentioned I would not have passed without heat shields over the mufflers.

Good advice to discuss with someone that has registered a Cobra in your state.............Good Luck
