Salisbury Billet A arm link.. anyone??
1 Attachment(s)
I have seen in in various places photo's of Salisbury IRS lower A arms held together by a billet aluminum link.. I know George Petrus has something he sells for his IRS systems but he uses .500" square rods and the Salisbury units are .625" round units. Anyone know where I can find one???

Don Borders is make a custom link like Georges. Don't know the details but give him a call.

I have the AMP rear suspension in my Contemporary and it works wonderfully. I have quad Koni's , But George recommends Aldans. It's a beautiful unit from any angle.

Don Borders built the cobra I own (not for me) Good call Rick!
Denny is your link part of one of George's assembly?? I talked to him earlier this week and he said the ones he has are square, and it needed to be drilled round. I guess that is OK if it works, Did you drill yours?? Regards, Michael Strunk |
Sorry Denny you said it was an AMP.. It's early and I have not had my coffee.. Can I ask how much the coversion was?? Did it make a huge difference?? I guess my thinking is that they are likely a great deal stronger which would be important if I were racing or was trying to put 500hp to the ground, which I'm not..
My standard, Borders prepared 1969 Jag IRS (quad Koni's too) works wonderfully and I have so many things I need and want more. I'm guessing an AMP unit will go for 1,800-2,500.. Is that close? I can get the new Cobra R six speed tranny for about that and really need that... yea.. like we need any of this.. Thanks again. |
Howdy Michael,
You might also look into CWI, up in Washington. You can get their web address from the search function, I would think, since they've been mentioned many times. Also, I had my entire irs/dif upgraded/rebuilt by Michael at CWI--I opted for the reinforced tubular lower control arms instead of billet, since I also wanted to pay for function but found it difficult to sustain the expense (I'd love the billet ones, but they were a lot more dough). They've worked very well. TT |
Thanks Tom,
My IRS is solid having had a first rate rebuild when the car was built, but the link between the tubes is chrome and I just happened upon an aluminum unit and liked it. The link itself is cheap.. 35-40 bucks.. The one george sells says COBRA across it and is just really cool. Regards, |
