8.8" rear end nose weight

The rear end I have installed in my frame came with an iron weight that attached at the nose near where the u-joint attaches.

It weighs about 12 pounds. I am guessing it helps keep the nose of the pumpkin down under acceleration, or helps absorb some shock from a fast start.

Any thoughts on whether I should use it or lose it?

Took it off. Doesn't seem to serve any useful purpose on a Cobra other than add weight.

I heard some talk awhile ago about it absorbing harmonic vibrations. Took mine off 4 years ago. So far no vibrations. Just a big, ugly paperweight.

Re 8.8 weight

I have ran mine since I built it in 1994 without that weight and have never had any kind of problem.

Took mine off...no problem.

DO NOT REMOVE THAT WEIGHT.

Ok, I'm kidding. It is is nothing but a harmonic dampener. You can actually buy a new one from some Mustang vendors. Remove it. It's nothing but weight.
