oil leak

I have an oil leak while the engine is NOT running. I filled up with 6 quarts yesterday, then ran the car for 10 minutes to check for leaks, none (yet). I then checked level and remarked the dipstick to mark the proper FULL line on the dipstick. Still no leak evident, but I didn't watch very closely. This morning while I walked past the car I noticed oil coming from underneath. It looks like about a quart leaked out, but I still didn't see any drips. This is the first time that the oil has been filled to the proper "factory" level (don't ask why, long story).
Does the oil come up to either the front or rear "U" on the oil pan? I suspect that spot because of the amount of oil, and I have not been able to find any oil leaking from either valve cover. I will have the car up tonight to get a closer look, but I am hoping for some ideas to look at as a starting point.

Thanks,
Bran

P.S. stock front sump pan, will be relplaced soon, but I need the car this weekend for stress relief.

No, the oil should not be as high as the oil pan end seals (the "U") if it is not overfilled. Thus, it is most likely coming out of a drain plug or the pan may have a crack in it. You must clean off the underside, then see where the oil is coming from.

A quart? A quart of oil on your garage floor will cover an area about 3x5 feet square.. Yikes..

take a quart of oil and pour it on the floor and it will be aboue 10 x 15 within one hour!!!! ist way ugly

I found the leak! I had a bad plastic seal on the drain plug. I don't know why it didn't leak immediately after I put the oil in. So after fixing the leak, and using plenty of oil cleanup stuff, I was ready for a drive.
Thanks for the help, as it turned out it was an easy fix, just messy. It covered about 5X10 feet give or take. Great way to start the day.

Good job

Brandon,

Glad you got the leak fixed. I'd love to see your car sometime.
