Anyone familiar with Duraspark II systems?
I realize this is on a slightly smaller engine than what you guys usually work with :D ...but I'm hoping someone here can help
Here's my question: Does anyone have a diagram or can describe the wiring used on '79, '80? Duraspark II modules? The one in question was used specifically on 2.3L 4-bangers with automatic transmissions only and is called a "dual mode crank retard ignition module" and is identified by a white connector shell on the 4 pin connector (instead of the usual black) Why I'm asking: I was chatting with my engine builder, another "old fart", who used to use this unit on some of the mini-stock and Formula Ford stuff he built in the '80s. According to him, this unit retards ignition timing by 6 deg. (actually my manual says 10) while the engine is being started. He suggested this would be an excellent unit to use on my 2.3L blow-through carb setup that I'm putting in my "Daytona Couped" MII. I could wire in a seperate power supply through a Hobbs switch to retard the timing at whatever boost level I wish. This sounds like the perfect "low-buck" MSD system for my low-buck project Can anyone confirm which wire I have to splice into? I think it's the white one on the 2 pin connector but would like to be sure before I start cutting. Any help is greatly appreciated.
