Halibrands and rear end width
I am putting Halibrand wheels on my B&B Cobra. I have a Ford 9" rear end. If anyone else is using this combination, what is the width (flange to flange) that will allow the wheels to fit and look correct?

Rear End Width
Here is how I did it myself. Remove the actual rear axle assembly from the car. Leave it out. Mount the tires that you will be using on the wheels you have chosen. Then set the chassis at the ride height that looks "Right" for you. Put the mounted wheels/tires into the wheel openings again visually adjusting them until they look good, make sure they are absolutely vertical, allow for enough vertical movement, check them with a level. Then crawl under the car with a tape measure and get the dimension from one wheel mounting flange to the other. Each car is a little different as is each wheel offset. This is the dimension you will need to modify you axle assembly to. Be sure to allow for the thickness of the rotor/brake drum mounting surface.
Not hard to do but measure carefully. .............Rick |
