The Lokar stick did not match my previous stick which I had modified such that the oil level was just below the windage tray. If you have your old stick or know the capacity of your system and can fill it I would doulble check the marks. You can adjust the lenght by taking the rod out with a set screw and cutting and reinserting the rod.
I used RTV sealer around the base when I inserted it into the block (FE).
