Just went over 3000 miles. Mile 1 went on car this past Labor Day. Car should go 12k miles/year. Everything still works fine as far as the clutch goes. Late Mustang aftermarket BBK clutch quadrant, cable, & mount made a big difference. One thing I didn't do was to convert the clutch pedal shaft from a sleeve bushing to a ball bearing. The sleeve bushing will likely get sloppy, and when I pull it out, will convert it to a ball bearing shaft.

I had the Cobra HD clutch and it broke after about 3000 miles of track use. I just switched to the dual friction Centerforce and the pedal pressure is about the same (light) . Centerforce has the throwout bearing that goes with the clutch. Cranky |
Thanks Cranky. I might order a CF DF setup this week if I can't get this McLeod setup together. I bolted up the McLeod yesterday and the fingers are located an additional .760" from the face of the flywheel, which causes the clutch fork to contact the slave cylinder housing. So, to use this clutch, I will have to cut my stock clutch fork apart and move the end outside the scattershield 1" away from the slave cylinder. I'm going to call Red Roberts today and McLeod (Weber?) and ask him if this is what everyone who uses this setup has to do. If so, I think their products are poorly designed, even if they do work well. Cranky, are you using the 'stock' CF DF disk? I ask because the only reason I went with the McLeod setup over the CF DF is that I was told the disk lasts much longer. But I'm about ready to send this McLeod setup back and order the CF clutch. Did the clutch fork end up in roughly the same position as when running the Ford clutch, or did you too have to modify the clutch fork? Finally, is your TO brg face flat or spherical? Thanks Cranky.

Correction...
Let me begin by saying I'm a dumba$$ :). I spoke with Red Robers at McLeod yesterday, and he was VERY helpful. Obviously a very knowledgeable man when it comes to this stuff. After talking with him and making some more measurements we discovered (or, more correctly--he discovered) that the previous owner of the car installed a Pantera clutch in this 351C or the engine came out of a Pantera. Thus the reason for the difference in the height of the clutch 'fingers'. So, I want to appologize to McLeod for my previous post when I stated I thought they have a poorly designed product. It was my ignorance not the quality of their product that was causing the problem. So, I'm going to modify my clutch fork to work with their diaphram style performance pressure plate/disk, and hopefully that will be the end of it. I'll post a final (hopefully ;) ) followup this weekend after I modify the fork. Thanks again for the helpful responses.
