Rear discs on an EM Cobra
Any of you Everett Morrison owners out there, I could really use some advise. I have a narrowed 9" ford rear end that I want to put disc brakes on. E-M sold me an adaptor to mount disc calipers on to the rear axle. This was a number of years ago and my car got put on hold for a number of reasons, but I'm on it now, and need to know what calipers to get for this set up. I seem to remember E-M telling me that 87' Lincoln LSC calipers would fit, but at the parts store, they sure don't look like a fit. Any of you have any advise?

Brake Calipers
A very popular caliper from Ford utilized in many applications is standard equipment on 88 Ford Tbird Turbo-coupe. I am unsure of the piston size, but the same design caliper is used on many Taurus's also.
The key dimensions is the distance between the mounting bolts and the rotor offset. Good luck Rick.......... |
Steve,
I believe they use Lincoln Versailles calipers and rotors. The quickest way would be to call Brett directly and ask: 813 920-0905. Let us know what you find out. Thanks. Mike |
E-M rear brakes
Thanks to you guys for answering and trying to help me out with my problem. I tried calling Everett, but their machine says that they're closed for "restructuring" and not taking new orders. Kind of scary. I left a message asking for advise, but haven't heard back yet.

If your housing has been narrowed then I would think that it is configured to mount something other than the Versailles disc brakes as these are large, heavy and unique to the Versailles model so parts can be hard to find. My 9" mounts discs and calipers with a bolt-on ECI kit that uses a vented Trans Am rotor drilled in the Ford spacing and a late Caddy caliper with an integral parking brake. Perhaps EM used this kit as well- it's popular on the street rod aftermarket. I'll attempt to post a picture of my setup so you can see if it looks like yours.
