Hi Mike Yes read the article about the plastic lifters. Smokey Yunic and G.M. built plastic designed motors 15 years ago. They ran but did not last. The heat caused the plastics to crack. We now have the materials to build these kind of parts. In ten or twenty years youcan only wonder what they will come up with next?? Coatings and carbon fiber of complete engines. We have intake manifold, valve covers, brake pads, disc rotors, trans clutches and bands. All light weight and twice as strong. It is only the begining. I forget FFR has a carbon fiber cobra. Nice work to the Smith brothers. It is a light strong future for sure Mike Rick Lake

$3,000 a set? Where do you get that price from? $820 - $960 per set.

I got that price directly from Joe Schubeck. I talked to him at the end of last year about his lifters for one of my customer's big block ford projects. At that time, everything was on a custom order basis. As you can see from the site you posted, it says "coming soon" None of that stuff is available yet. Hopefully it won't be "coming soon" like the Genesis 427 block, or the Dove aluminum heads, or... well you get the picture. Also I apologize, I went through my notes and that $3000.00 price was for a cam and lifters. Also note, the lifters are 1" diameter. Plan on spending aprox. $300 (maybe more) to have your lifter bores enlarged. By looking at the photos in the PHR article, it looks like he changed the design of the lifters and reduces the amount of material needed, thus lowering the prices. I hope he makes a set for the FE, I really like the design and the reduced maintenance.

The cam was to be manufactured and ground by Comp Cams w/ Schubecks prosess along the way $375. The solid radius compositeLifters were $820. The drilling fixture, brackets, studs, taps, drill, shipping made it $1320. I'd still have to buy pushrods.Replacing shell lifters w/ these lifters wouln't have the weight savings as that of conventional lifters due to the hollow construction of the shell lifters . I was given some information by a machinist in the shop where my engine is being done that made me just save my money and go back w/a Regular Comp cam and shell lifters.

Joe also attached an addvertisement it fills the computer screen .It wont print and doesn't move. After looking at properties it had the read only box checked .Why?

Before I spend that kind of money on the newest and trickest parts, I want other people to try them and verify how well they do what they're intended. "New" is another way of saying "not fully tested"
