2X4 on 289/302
Is anyone running a 2X4 setup on a 289/302?
What are your results? ..........Rick |
Rick:
Hot rod did an article about three months ago on this topic. Unless you are going to the dragstrip and going to spin it up to 8,000 rpm, stick with a single four. |
2X4 or?????
I am currently using a Victor Jr on my 289 and have been very satisfied. Short of the expense for Webers I have contemplated a Super Victor and a cam change too. Currently 238 @.050 .565 lift. 11-1 compression.

Fairly stout. Whos heads are you using? Have they been ported? May not make sense to do the changes you are talking about unless the heads flow good enough. |
2X4's or ?????
The heads are World Products, Windsor Jr'sand yes they have been ported, I would guess stage II. Not all out. Cylinder head guy said heads are good to support 416 HP on my Engine. It runs real well. Thinking about puting roller cam in it.
BTW you're up late.!!! Rick |
I have the Hot Rod article also. It was very interesting. THe 2 fours look real cool on a small block, but the manifold design is old compared to the modern single 4 manifolds. The single 4 made 10 more hp and more torque than the 2 fours.

SB Dual Quads
For some reason, I'm unable to post a photo of my dual quad set-up. Please check my photo gallery. Ed's right on, you just can't beat the looks of a nice dual-quad setup. However, if you're looking for performance gains, stay with a good single quad setup.
