Gas pedal ???'s
I have tried a Mustang II pedal and a 1970 Mustang Pedal in my EM.
Neither seem to fit quite right. Seems like the angle of the linkage goes too far toward the outside of the car with both pedals. I am afraid this will interfer with my brake pedal assembly when I go to put it in. I guess I might bend the 1970 linkage back toward the steering column some ??? ... but this still throws the pedal into a slight lateral movement when pushed down. I bought a Lokar 36"HT cable to install, but I think I need to find something better as far as the pedal goes... any suggestions? Thanks. RZ |
Check out the "Consumer Watch" forum. There is a thread on EM.

The easiet way is to get a "moon style" gas pedal assy and cable. Just bolt it to the floor, make a pedal stop and bracket for the carb.

Thanks for the input guys.
I am looking for a pedal assembly that is readily available. (translated: inexpensive) The problems I am running into is the pedal rods are normally "S" shaped and take up too much space, not to mention the footbox in the EM is pretty deep, to mount one down there, puts the brake pedal about 6 " back towards my knees. ????? Is it unusual to use a block or spacer to mount a Gas pedal to the front of the foot box???? RZ |
Gas Pedal
Ron,
I have seen and set behind an EM and I will tell you that my gas pedal sets a good 4" behind my brake and clutch pedals not to much different than the EM. I have never found that to be a problem. My floor pan is fairly deep as well. When I am on the interstate I just slid my foot under the pedals if I am crusing. As far as an acceptable gas pedal there are several out there that will work just fine priced from $30 up to $100+. To answer your other questions regarding a spacer block to put your gas pedal farther away from your firewall, well I just haven't seen anyone do that yet...but you know Ford has the adjustable pedals in several of their new models now.
