Losing Clutch adjustment!
 
Any ideas?

I'm losing clutch adjustment to the point of none at all!

351C
McLeod scatter sheild
Tremec TKO
Aluminum Flywheel
10.5" RAM clutch & PP
BBK clutch cable

Certainly the clutch can't be wearing (less than 1000 miles easy driving) can it?

Is it possible the cable is stretching thus requiring frequent (monthly) adjustment?

Though it's possible, the (stamped) Clutch fork could be bending,
it doesn't appear so in its relationship in the opening in the scattershield.

and the adjustable pivot ball is still snug...

For next adjustment I'll need to install a spacer or try replacing the cable itself.

anybody else experience this?

Any suggestions?

PS: And everything looks "copasetic" (that's a word my Dad used to use instead of simply saying "OK") down by the pedal box.

Cables can stretch, especially if the travel of the pedal is in excess of the travel allowed at the fork, so at the end of fork travel, the cable is under undue tension. The firewall mounting could be moving on you as well. I doubt that the fork is bending. The pressure plate could be loosening up, so it won't disengage as well. It could be many things other that the cable.

Believe it or not....
 
stamped steel clutch forks can, and do, fatigue and bend. I've had it happen to me before.:eek: I installed a used fork with a heavy duty Zoom clutch and every time I would adjust it, I could only depress the pedal a few times before I'd have to readjust it again. After several attempts, I finally pulled the pedal out and it looked good at a glance, but upon close examination, I could see the tiny little stress cracks which allowed it to bend. ;)

This may be more of a problem with Classic Roadsters and Excaliburs than people think. Have diagnosed several in last year.

Firewall flex. Stock setup is '78 MII pull cable, and small plastic MII firewall spacer. Would it surprise you to know that every time you push down on the clutch, you're applying a load of 150 - 180 pounds at the firewall. Glass won't take this kind of flexing.

Fix is to upgrade clutch cable to late Mustang aftermarket (BBK) clutch quadrant, cable, and firewall adjuster, along with a sturdier firewall mount. All available from Summit except mount which you can make. Quadrant has to be grafted onto uper clutch pedal. Works like Nautilus machine.
