How to remove anodizing ?????

Yes, I really want to remove the anodizing from a part.

It is a hot pink aluminum in line fuel filter from Speedway Motors.

The hot pink might look COOL on a sprint car, but not on a
Cobra !!!

What works the best ????

Cheers,
Bill Cook

That Easy Off is powerful stuff. We had a guy use it to clean his M-16. He ended up with the only silver rifle in the 82 ABN DIV, and an article 15........

Use the Tidy Bowl. It won't take the anodizing off your fingers as easily. Wear rubber or latex gloves, and safety goggles using this stuff. Wash parts and hands in baking soda and water afterwards. Tidy Bowl has hydrochloric acid in it. Baking soda neutralizes it. A stronger version of this is muriatic acid from the hardware store. Gloves and goggles there too.

Easy Off is lye. Drain cleaner. If you have to use this stuff, use rubber gloves, then neutralize with vinegar (acetic acid), or lemon juice (citric acid). A safer way to do this using lye is to use lye, like Red Devil, about 1/2 teaspoon full in 2 cups water, then soak part with tongs, or coathanger wire so you don't touch the part. Do this in the sink. Then rinse with cold water. Polish with Brillo pad.
