I need to move the seats in a Unique

Getting a used 289FIA this weekend :D and I'm going to move the seats up. This may sound like I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but when I redrill the holes for the new seat position, what can I do to keep the drill from unweaving the carpet? I thought this might be a problem.
Also, do the seat tracks from finishline work with unique seats? They are considerably cheaper. If I start spending hundreds of dollars right off the bat, my wife will go ballistic.

John,

If the carpet is nylon (or some other synthetic) you can use a soldering iron and "melt" the hole before drilling. This will create the hole and leave the edge melted so the bit won't catch. I've done this many times and it seems to work well.

One word of caution, it can melt pretty fast :JEKYLHYDE so don't over-do it.

Sorry, don't know anything about the seat tracks from Finish Line.

JOHN: YOU CAN GET A LEATHER PUNCH WHICH WILL REMOVE A 5/16"-3/8" HOLE IN THE CARPET TO ALLOW FOR THE DRILL. OR AS A POSSIBLE ALTERNATIVE YOU CAN CAREFULLY CUT A SMALL SLIT IN THE CARPETING THEN PUT THE DRILL THROUGH IT AND BEGIN TO DRILL THE FLOOR. BE SURE THAT THE SEAT BELTS ARE ANCHORED PROPERLY AFTER PREFORMING THE MODIFICATION.

John;
Cut an "X" with a carpet knife where you want to drill. When you're done the carpet will drop back in place. Good luck with your new ride.
