Peruch-here are my 289 hipo numbers
Here is what I've got: 289 hipo .030 over with 10:1 compresion. Solid cam, 239 degrees with 528 lift. 48 IDAs on cobra style manifold. The heads are original iron, but were ported and worked over by Joe Sherman in Santa Ana california. He used 1.94 intakes and 1.60 exhausts. Flow is 222.7/176.8 @ 28" of vacuum, .600 lift.
I finally got the car on the chassis dyno for a couple of pulls. I made 281.2 rwhp. I have to admit that I really wanted 10-15 hp more, but I haven't really tuned for maximum power yet. Hopefully playing with air correctors and maybe synthetic lube in the rear and gearbox will free up a little more power. Right now I've got 155 mains and 200 correctors. Thanks, Tim |
Tim,
Good figures,I think it's easily with proper tuning to reach the 300HP ,what choke do you use?,regards,Peruch |
289 numbers
I'm running 37mm chokes, I haven't tried anything else. I use these primarily because Enzo strongly advised it. I guess anything is open to experimentation, but every time I try something other than what he recommended it turns out he was right.
I'm running 60 idles, 120 idle holders, f7 tubes, 155 mains and 200 air correctors. To get another 15 hp or so, I think the first place to look would be in the timing and air correctors; what do you think? By the way, earlier I told you my heads had 1.88 intakes; I really thought they were. That was what I asked for, but I also asked for maximum flow in a street 289 head. Sherman just sent the flow bench data and it turns out he went to the 1.94s. Sorry for the misinformation. Thanks, Tim |
Tim,
I suppose if you run with 37mm choke is for road use.About power Ithink the only thing to do to get power is to go on a dyno (not rolling dyno),personnally Ifind 45HP difference between 32 and 38°.155 on main jet is current with your combo but with your air corrector is certainly to lean at top end,try in the 155/165 range, let me konw ,regards,Bernie |
