found fix for brake squel on my spf
i have 1600 miles on spf 1383 and have had to listen to the annoying sound of brake squelling when coming to a stop/backing up/etc.
some posts said is parking brakes so i pulled them off last night and after 80 miles today and noooooo squell at all, i am happy to know it is not the stopping brakes but am wondering how to fix the park brakes----- any suggestions? note--the park brake calipers seem to have a lot of play on the mounting brackets---oh----also removing them got rid or the clunking noise i got when going over bumps. i had searched for hours trying to find that clunk. thanks for any advice steve hamm |
Steve,
I'll discuss your park brake problem with Mike at Snakebite. Stay tuned. Tom |
tom---thanks
ill be at dynamic on the 19th--on the way to charolette. are you going? will be there to have some fix's done by mark and eric. been real happy w/ car ---it is a kick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 steve |
Steve ~ when I had #1299 at Dynamic a couple of weeks ago for a new alternator I told them to check out my brake squeak. Mark mentioned that he would check it out and thought that the parking brake needed adjustment.
I'm not sure exactly what they did to fix it, but no more squeak!! Brian |
Steve and Brian,
Mike is working on an experimental clip to reduce the caliper play, and thereby eliminate the brake squeal and clunk. Should have some of these clips made up by the time you get here. Tom |
