351w bell housing
I am having a 351w stoked to a 396 built engine for my superformance car. The engne builder is talking about a blow proof bell housing. Sounds like a good idea, but he is talking about changing the slave cylinder hook up for the clutch. apparently the blow proof housing came out of a mustang and used a cable!?!. I am totally confused as the superformance car seems ideally set up for a hydraulic clutch.

Just tell him you want an external slave - It sounds like that is what he is talking about...

Definately get the blow proof bellhousing, also known as a scattersheild. Make sure you check runout on the scattershield as the instructions tell you to.
The SPF is setup for a hydraulic clutch. You can do it the easy way and just get a hydraulic throwout bearing, but I reccomend against that. Highly recommend a ford type TO bearing and fork, and an external hydraulic slave cylinder to move the fork. This setup costs less and is easier to repair.
