engine care

i have a 429 on an engine stand. i plan on putting it in my car next year. i currently have a 351 w in the car. my question is can i turn the 429 over to keep the engine lubed by direct battery jump to the starter with the plugs out and squirt some oil in the cylinders. any recommendations would be appreciated.

If this is a fresh build, not a good idea. You'll wipe the break in lube off the cam, and the cam may fail when you start it up for the first time. If using roller lifters, you should be OK, no cam break in. If this is an already running and broken in engine, you should be OK there too. I'd just hose it down with WD40, crank it over by hand once to lube the cylinders and lifters, then put a plastic engine bag around it to protect it.
