Dirt in paint

Unfortunately while doing some touch up painting I ended up with some dirt in the paint. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? Or, any "how to" sources. I need Touch Up Painting 101...

Did this dirt settle on still wet paint, or was the dirt mixed in the paint and then sprayed on the car ?

there really is no good way to deal with this problem other than by doing it over. The important question has already been asked...did the dirt come with the paint (throw out that expensive brillo refresher) or did it settle out of the air onto the fresh paint?

Bummer

rhunker,
Question: Is it a solid color or metallic/pearl?
Typically dirt is color sanded and polished out however on some solid colors (white ect..) you will still see the dirt spect versus the bump. OEM states that their QC is a maximum of 5 spects per panel. Most shops will and do polish to eliminate orange peel and dirt. Here a standard 3M process:

1- Sand imperfections with 1500 to 2000g wet sand paper.
2- Using a buffer with a cutting pad: use 3M rubbing compound to remove sand scratches.
3- Using a foam pad: Use a foam pad polish to remove swirls left by compound.

4- Last use a hand glaze to bring out the gloss.

Drop by your local paint supply store and they will set you up with all the supplies.
GOOD LUCK

Shannon

Shannon, thanks, this is the info I needed. My paint is 2002 Jaguar Pacific Blue Pearl with white pearl stripes.

To all....as far as I can tell, the dirt settled on the paint. I didn't paint it, a friend did, now it's my problem.....
