I have 1/2" studs on my FE w/ aluminum heads .The tops are 1/2"x 20 NF.George Anderson said the touque should be 85ftlbs W/ARP molly assembly lube.I don't have that stuff. What else will work as well .OR what torque w/ just engine oil? Remember alluminum heads and 1/2' x 20 threads.

Any light weight grease should be fine. Torque figures are fauge compared to todays methods which you tighten to a very light torque, then turn the nut or bolt so many degrees.

ARP does recomment 85lbs with aluminum heads and ARP moly. It is the last line on this green instruction sheet.
http://www.cobralads.com/mystery/DSC00102.JPG.html with motor oil, ARP recommends 108 on their general fastener torque recommendation page http://www.arp-bolts.com/pages/tech/images/fasttorq.pdf If you have some moly grease or thick grease around, I think you can go closer to the 85. Andy |
