Brakes and flares...leak
Anyone ever had any bad experiences with leaking at the tee's due to bad tees?
I had the pleasure yesterday. I got the balls to finally test out my "done from scratch" system ( meaning I did all my flares) Got her pretty well beat only to see the dreaded drip coming out of an all female 3/16 inverted flare tee. Thought I could cinch her up some more to take care of that and it got worse. I really only have two tees on the car. One for the front end and one for the back end. Using the brake line from a 25 foot roll helped to minimize the number of connections. I interupted the run to the back for a brake switch ( 2 more connections) After some cursing and thoughts on what to do with a practically charged system, I drained that side and broke the tee up......looking at it the tee, I saw it had been drilled thru from one side to the other on an angle making the inverted flare faces off center on either side. The flare thus only seated on one half of each side and at that they were opposite edges sealing...... So I bought a couple new tee's today and will try them.........failing that I guess I cut/bend and flare some new lines to try with the tee. Tim |
