Scott,
The spacers go on top end of spring. My thought was that with either a longer spring or using spacers to make up the difference, I could maintain my ride height which is ok now but allow the springs to actually do their work by not being cranked up so far (about 8") and get a little softer ride. Just looks funny now with adjusters cranked up so high is all. Tom S. Maybe I should leave well enough alone, it's just that it doesn't look right. |
OK, I understand now. I run my shocks inverted so... I think of decreasing preload when I crank them UP. By not "bound" I thought you meant not "preloaded" (like mine).

Tom,
I agree with running longer springs. Spacers with the same springs, won't change the amount of preload or over all length that you are running now. It would still look funny. You will still have to run the same preload with longer springs but OAL will be greater, making it look right. Unless your coil-binding, you probably wont notice a difference in ride. Though some say alonger spring is more "plush" than a shorter one of the same rate, I've never been able to tell a difference. Scott |
