Thanks,

for any ceiling mounted crane your ceiling joists need to be spec'd for the weight by an engineer, and if not up to specifications beefed up accordingly. then a rail system needs to be mounted to it to provide forward and back movement. then a chain hoist of some type needs to be mounted to the rail system. After paying for all of this you could of bought a lift for the whole car.
If you still want to go through with all the above, Grainger or Mc Master Carr both carry electric chain hoists for over head mounting.

In days of old, guys would use a manual chain hoist chained to the limb of a tree. Attach the hook to a chain on the engine to haul it out.

Problem was, the hoist only went up and down. the car or truck had to pushed out of the way after.

You could install a manual or electric overhead hoist system, but why would you want to. A decent fold up engine hoist isn't particularly expensive, they can be easily rented if you don't want to buy one, and likely someone on this forum lives near you will loan you one and help you with the engine install.

I tried a stiff arm style from Harbor Freight. It was slick except that on the last hole it was still 6" short of reaching center of balance on engine from front bumper. Also cobra needs to be lifted to get legs under car.

You could get a small 1/2 ton chain fall , and an adjustable engine attach thing . Span six or so joists with a doubled up plank , run it perpendicular to others . or if you want the real deal , granger has the electric chain fall with a doll that runs on your small " I " beam .
