gas gauge/sending unit
Gas gauge jumps back and forth while driving?, checked all connections and everything is fine. When car is parked, I can grab roll bar and shake, same thing happens?.
Is there some type of resistor or whatever, I can install between sending unit and gauge to slow reading?. Thanks in advance. |
Could it be a problem with the baffling in the tank? I frankly have no idea, that's just one thing that came to mind.

Only side to side baffling, Oh yeah, they
are SW universal sending unit and SW 2 5/8 gauge. Thanks |

Mine is stable. You can see it move very, very little when you shake the car, but it's not a problem when driving. I have the same setup as you. Does your guage read correctly when the tank is full & empty? I know there are a couple different ohm senders for different guages. If your reading is off it may be the wrong sending unit (too sensitive). If not I would agree with the baffling problem in the tank.

Everything is working just fine..... this is a common "problem" using these gauges. There is absolutely no dampning in the gauge and the thing responds very quickly as the float in the tank moves up and down as the gas sloshes around in the tank. Only time mine reads without jumping around is when the tank is really full!!! - Jim - |
Same here but, I'll bet somethings out there that will slow down the signal,
perhaps a heat sink or whatever. Hopefully someone will have found the answer?.. Thanks |
Try doing a search for anti slosh on Yahoo. It may give you what you are looking for. Don't know if it can be adapted to your car, but it exists. There is also a topic about this going on at another Cobra forum.

Did the search and found a fella building a cobra, he used the anti slosh module
out of an 88 stang, I'll see if it works with SW. |
